In her spare time, she enjoys strolling around the Travelers Rest Farmers Market, running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and performing improv with Alchemy Comedy Theatre. "īiography: Byers is the Director of Individual Giving at the Peace Center and has served in community engagement and fundraising roles for her whole career. As traffic from visitors and residents increase, I will continue to emphasize mobility needs in the City and push the need for connectivity and increasing safety, walkability, and bikeability in all areas, not just downtown. I will emphasize infill development, public-private partnerships, and mixed use development. We need to be intentional about diversifying our economy, and supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as making sure Travelers Rest remains a welcoming and affordable place to live. As these plans are implemented, I will continue to fight for smart change in the city with a focus on inclusion and making sure we mitigate the risk of leaving some residents behind. I will accomplish this through continuing to think through ways to make the governmental process easier to access and understand so all citizens feel informed and able to contribute. In my next term, I intend to see those plans come to fruition in Travelers Rest. My first four years in office have been incredibly illuminating and have been spent laying a foundation through addressing fundamental needs of the City and the crafting of multiple master plans, each with a different focus. My goal is to be present and accessible and listen to the needs of the residents and represent the shared vision of our community. Travelers Rest has been a wonderful home to me and I feel I have a responsibility to give back to the city. Why are you running?: "I’m of the belief that to whom much is given, much is expected.
